ABOUT

Our Principles

Sardinia Healthcare Research and Properties (SHRP) is the reference company for Qatar Foundation Endowment’s investments in Italy.

Qatar Foundation Endowment (QFE) is a long-term global investor with the mandate to make direct investments in a wide range of asset classes and industries, and manage them; QFE aims at providing a permanent funding base for the activities of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (Qatar Foundation) – a non-profit organization that is actively driving the transformation of Qatar from an economy based on energy resources to a knowledge-based economy.

STARTING POINT

How It All Began… and What’s Next

SHRP was created with the aim of allowing QFE’s mission to result in successful investments in Italy.

The Qatar Foundation runs programs in three main areas: education, science & research, community development.
Following QFE’s tradition to enhance the characteristics and potential of the reference territory, SHRP will proceed with the implementation of investments related to territorial development, as well as the mega trends of human development.
SHRP is a medium/long term investor with a key purpose: adding value by investing in research and innovation.

OUR INVESTMENTS

Mater Olbia

Qatar Foundation Endowment’s first investment project in Italy is the Mater Olbia hospital. SHRP, owner of the land and real estate assets, built Mater Olbia’s infrastructures and plant engineering.

QFE’s investment has been decisive for the effective development of the hospital and has provided an opportunity for mutual benefit both to Italy (which needed to find a partner that could financially contribute to the project) and Qatar – eager to increase its international engagement in projects related to cultural and social development.

By signing an agreement with Gemelli Foundation for the managing of Mater Olbia Hospital, QFE has created an optimal combination of financial strength, skills and a strong network of contacts in the academic world and with the best international hospitals.

FMater Olbia has contributed consistently to the of Regione Sardegna’s healthcare system and the decrease of the so-called “health-tourism” departing from the island.

INVESTMENTS FOR THE FUTURE

Phases 2

SHRP is now focusing on investing in research programs carried out with international scientific partners, as well as in sports medicine, with specific prevention programs and the building of residences for sports teams. Furthermore, SHRP invests considerably in medical tourism, not solely to provide high level healthcare, but also to offer an excellent hospitality – partly through the construction of hotels and residences dedicated to the families of patients.

Part of SHRP’s mission is also to focus on partnerships with the educational system to build up a solid system that spurs healthy lifestyle habits and choices.
